Advice without an agenda
Most technology advice in New Zealand comes from someone who wants to sell you something. A vendor recommends their platform. A reseller recommends what they're certified on. An IT company recommends the managed service contract that works best for their margin. We're different: our consultancy engagements are advisory only. We have no hardware to shift, no software licences to push, and no kickbacks from vendor referrals.
That means when we tell you that a specific product or approach is right for your business, we mean it — because we don't benefit either way. And when we tell you that you don't need to spend money on something you're being sold, we're telling you that because it's true.
What we advise on
IT strategy and roadmaps: Where is your technology today, where does it need to be in 12-36 months, and what's the right sequence to get there without disrupting the business? We work with business owners and senior managers to translate business goals into a clear technology plan — without the jargon.
Vendor and product selection: Evaluating accounting software, CRM platforms, job management systems, cloud storage, communication tools — we help you cut through the sales noise and choose what actually fits how your business works. We've seen enough implementations go wrong to know what questions to ask before you sign a contract.
IT audits: If you've taken over a business, if you've grown quickly and your technology hasn't kept up, or if you just want an independent view of your current setup — we do thorough assessments covering security, infrastructure, software licences, backup, and spend. You get a plain-English report with prioritised recommendations.
Pre-project scoping: Before you commission a software build, a network overhaul, or a major hardware purchase, it's worth having someone independent review the brief and the proposal. We catch assumptions, scope gaps, and overpricing before you've committed budget.
Engagements
Consultancy engagements are typically fixed-scope: a clear brief, a defined deliverable, and a set fee. We don't do open-ended retainers where the value is unclear. If ongoing advisory access makes sense for your situation, we'll structure something transparent. Every engagement starts with a scoping conversation — no cost, no obligation.
